Master Plan

Designed by Daniel Fischer, Landscape Architect with EMC Engineering, Inc. and now a honoree member of the LePageville Memorial Cemetery Corporation who he donated his time and company resources to prepare the Master Plan resulting in a Gift-In-Kind to LePageville Memorial Cemetery, Inc. in the amount of $2,800.00 and was unveiled on Oct 17, 2017.

Community Service Cleanup

Thanks to the ongoing help of local volunteers for cleaning up the cemetery.

Community Symposium

Prof. West with SSU put together a one-day community symposium to bring awareness about the 19th century African-American community in Savannah, GA that was torn down in 1967. The symposium was held on Apr 6, 2018.

National Registry Criteria Workshop

Ms. Melissa Jest, African American Program Coordinator with Georgia Division of Natural Resources provided her expertise on how to save historic spaces such as the LePageville community and cemetery. The workshop was held on Oct 17, 2017.

LePageville Drive Street Sign

A newly erected street sign marks the spot in remembrance of one of Savannah's 19th century neighborhoods dating back to 1885 which housed African-American railroad employees. It was unveiled on Apr 2, 2016.

Restoring Arch & New Interpretive Sign

Gateway arch was refurbished and an interpretive sign was installed thanks to a grant from SSU. It was unveiled on Oct 17, 2014.

Building Memorial Archway

Enough money was raised in 2007 to build a memorial arch over the entrance of the cemetery designating as LePageville Memorial Cemetery on the north side of President Street near Wahlstrom Road. It was unveiled on Sep 22, 2007.
